The DCL-Ex series fire-safe electric actuators are designed with a fail-safe function. Following an explosion or emergency shutdown, once backup power is restored, the actuator will automatically drive the valve to a pre-set safe position—such as full open or full close—even if the external control signal is unavailable. In addition, the self-locking mechanism ensures the valve remains securely at its last known position without hunting or unintended movement.

The DCL-Ex series actuators are suitable for more than 90% of explosive gas environments, excluding coal mine (colliery) applications. With proven field performance, over 10,000 DCL explosion-proof actuators have been operating safely for more than a decade in hazardous industrial environments.

All DCL-Ex actuators have undergone rigorous testing conducted by CSA, covering both Zone and Division systems in full compliance with UL and CSA standards. ATEX certification has been obtained, while CE and RoHS 3 compliance have been verified through testing by SGS.
